So you’ve bought the ‘Mr Mysterious’ Single? Already own Vanessa’s ‘Hazardous’ album?
Well why not buy Vanessa’s stunning new video for ‘Mr Mysterious’?
Music Video sales on iTunes count towards the ARIA Singles Chart, so it’s yet another way you can help to support ‘Mr Mysterious’ on the charts!
The video was directed by Stuart Gosling who developed the ‘Motion Cubism’ concept for the clip. It was all put together by ‘Digital Pictures’, who has worked on visual effects for ‘Australia’ and ‘The Pacific’.
The video is available in the iTunes store right now to download in high quality. Check it out in the link below.
Vanessa Amorosi’s ‘Mr Mysterious’ came in at #13 on the ARIA Singles chart this week, and actually has been in the chart for the last three weeks, despite not being released until last Friday. The track has also been the most purchased Australian single for the last 2 weeks.
So how did that happen? Well whenever people buy a ‘single’ track off an album, it now counts as a single sale and the record company can then elect if they wish for it to count towards the single charts.
Mr Mysterious has had a fair bit of promotion the last few weeks, with a performance on ‘Hey Hey It’s Saturday’ and with the track being heavily featured in a ‘Merlin’ promotion for Channel 10. This drove lots of ‘single track’ ‘Mr Mysterious’ sales from Hazardous album, and has kept it quite high in iTunes download chart.
Obviously Universal have allowed it to count in the chart ahead of their scheduled release last Friday, which mean’t the track didn’t have a particularly strong debut (landing in at #50 back on the 18th). But what will be interesting is next weeks charts, when all of the preorders are counted as they shipped during this ARIA chart period. The music video for ‘Mr Mysterious’ has also now been released to buy on iTunes. And Channel 10’s Merlin appears to be continuing to use ‘Mr Mysterious’ in it’s promo’s, with it appearing in the preview for next weeks episode. The track is also currently sitting at #5 on iTunes downloads. So all that combined with preorders should make for an interesting ‘Week 4’ for ‘Mr Mysterious’ on the ARIA Single Charts.
Also Vanessa’s album ‘Hazardous’ re-entered the charts this week, smashing in at #34 from 61 the week before.
Vanessa Amorosi’s duet with Mary J Blige, ‘Each Tear’, has now been officially released to buy on Mary’s album ‘Stronger With Each Tear’. The track originally leaked online a month and a half back, and was destined to become the first single off Mary’s album, with Vanessa having shot a Music Video for the track with Mary (back in January).
This is the last we heard of this project, with no word on the duet for sometime – and despite the single being put on hiatus, Mary’s album was released as originally intended last Friday.
We hope Universal Music have decided to hold back on the duet so as not to affect radio play of Vanessa’s new single ‘Mr Mysterious’, and will still intend on releasing this duet shortly. It would be a shame if it was shelved all together. If anyone has any official news, please let us know!
Vanessa has been forced to cancel a forthcoming Australian performance, Brisbane Racing Carnival, in order to head to London to promote her forthcoming UK release.
The Brisbane Racing Club issued the following news this week:
“Vanessa Amorosi has cancelled her live concert in Brisbane due to a Universal Music Recording Agreement which requires her to remain in London next month.
The singer had been booked by the Brisbane Racing Club (BRC) to perform a one hour live concert at the opening of the Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival on May 15 at Doomben Racecourse.
A spokesperson for Premier Artists, booking agent for Vanessa Amorosi, said ““It is very unfortunate that Vanessa Amorosi has been withdrawn from the event due to European record label commitments and impending album release in UK and Europe.”
BRC Chief Operating Officer, Darren Condon, said the Club was understandably disappointed Vanessa Amorosi had cancelled her show.
“It is unfortunate Vanessa Amorosi will not be returning to perform for her Australian fans at the launch of Brisbane’s biggest racing event.”
“I am very pleased to announce however, pop sensation Ricki-Lee has been confirmed to perform at the launch of the Carnival,” said Mr Condon.
Australia’s pop darling, and the former Gold Coast girl, was swiftly snapped up to perform a one hour live show at Racefest on May 15, shortly after the announcement her hit Can’t Touch It features in the new Sex and the City 2 trailer”
Vanessa is also scheduled to perform at the Hopes and Dreams 2010 Foundation Ball in Adelaide on the 8th of May. As yet they have not announced the cancellation of Vanessa, so it is not clear if this will be Vanessa’s last Australian appearance before she heads overseas, or if this performance is also affected by her UK commitments.
It has been confirmed that the UK will get ‘This Is Who I Am’ with the track being officially serviced to UK radio 17-MAY-2010.
The full ‘Club Mix’ of ‘Off On My Kiss’ Buzz Junkies Remix was also promoted to UK DJ’s this month, with the track now sitting at #26 on the UK Club Chart.

Vanessa Amorosi is set to perform her forthcoming single, ‘Mr Mysterious’, this Wednesday on the first episode of the brand new season of ‘Hey Hey it’s Saturday’.
The show recently had two reunion episodes after disappearing from Australian TV screens over 10 years ago.
It is fitting that Vanessa perform on their first formal show of the new series, as she was one of the performers of its “final” episode back in 1999, debuting ‘Have A look’.
Vanessa was discovered back in 1997 by Hey Hey’s ‘Red Faces’ segment producer Jack Strom – who then went on to manage Vanessa’s career for 9 years along with business partner Mark Holden.
Jack was involved with the reunion episodes, and will continue to be ‘Red Faces’ producer for the new season ahead.
The brand new video clip for ‘Mr Mysterious’ has now been officially added to YouTube. Check it out below and be sure to share it on all your friends!
The music video for Vanessa’s new single, ‘Mr Mysterious’, has just been serviced to media around the nation! The clip was first featured Friday morning on the Today Show on Channel 9, and then again on Mornings with Kerri-Anne
The clip was then shown this morning on Video Hits, and can now be seen online as a Take40 exclusive – however Universal themselves have also posted streaming video (see the links below). We hear that it will be added officially to YouTube on Monday.
The video, directed by Stuart Gosling, makes use of his ‘Motion Cubism’ technique in which viewers are transported through multiple shots reconstructed in 3d space. The effect reminds us a lot of Microsoft’s Photosynth technology, where photos are analysed and arranged in 3d space in a similar way. Check out Photosynth by clicking here. The vfx were done in three weeks by Melbourne production house Digital Pictures.
Aside from the amazing post-production work, Vanessa herself looks fantastic – being styled by Melbourne’s Ricky James – who has previously styled a number of Vanessa’s appearances over the last year. Vanessa is seen wearing a daring new lace body suit from American Apparel, a gorgeous white sleeveless dress with white gloves, a beautiful silver dress, and massive diamonte neck and wrist accessories.

Vanessa Amorosi’s official Facebook page was updated today to include some stills taken from the forthcoming video for her new single ‘Mr Mysterious’.
On top of that, Take40.com have posted an exclusive video showing the behind the scenes filming of the video clip, including an Interview with Vanessa.

Universal have launched a preorder for Vanessa Amorosi’s new single, ‘Mr Mysterious’.
You can preorder via SMS (1995 0500 – $2) or online via Vanessa Amorosi’s official website($1.65).
The preorder includes Mr Mysterious along with a new remix of the track by it’s original producers Macho Psycho.
For a two-track release we think this is a pretty great price point.
On top of that, they have also announced a competition for all those who pre-order using one of the methods above – where one lucky person will win a special acoustic party with Vanessa at their house, with lunch, and they can invite three of their friends!
All preorders ship the day of release, 23-APR-2010, and we’re pretty sure preorders will count in that first week ARIA Chart – based on the date the order is fulfilled.
Interestingly, Universal are required to declare a prize value for the competition, for it to comply with the laws set forth by the Office of Liquor Gaming & Racing. Apparently, according to the Terms and Conditions of the competition, an acoustic party with Vanessa is worth $5,000 – I guess we all now know Vanessa’s wedding fee :p

It’s now been a couple of days since ‘Each Tear’ leaked online, and a number of Mary J Blige fans have fallen in love with Vanessa’s voice – most are from the states and have not heard any of Vanessa’s previous releases.
Here’s a few choice quotes we found on a popular Mary J Blige forum:
